For years now, men and women have been told that regularly imbibing alcohol or drinking it to excess – even infrequently – can dehydrate the skin and cause premature aging. However, according to one beverage company in Berlin, drinking booze could help you look younger.
ANTIEVERYTHING
ANTIEVERYTHING is the Berlin-based company that has poured time, effort, and money into creating a vodka that contains ingredients thought to slow the aging process. The company is comprised of a group of people who appreciate the world’s finest establishments, delicious alcoholic cocktails, and the never-ending quest for the fountain of youth. Their product may very well be the next big thing in skincare, anti-aging, and health. ANTIEVERYTHING’s founder, Anja Skodda Jones, is a self-proclaimed “beauty-conscious biotechnologist” who has a background in events management and science.
What’s In It?
While it’s still relatively new and the jury is still out as to whether or not the product actually works, it contains a variety of ingredients that many scientists and dermatologists agree are very good for the skin, indeed. It is designed to be mixed and served with champagne, and it includes two very interesting ingredients.
- Sea buckthorn – Sea buckthorn contains the highest plant-based concentration of vitamin E, lutein, and fatty acids on the planet. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that has been proven to help prevent skin damage caused by the sun, and lutein is crucial for eye and brain health. Finally, fatty acids fight inflammation and help protect the structure of the cell membrane, which helps maintain skin’s elasticity.
- Caviar collagen – Studies have shown that collagen makes up anywhere from 20% to 30% of all of the proteins in the body, and it plays an important role in giving skin it’s plumpness and elasticity. Skodda Jones says she chose caviar collagen because fish collagens are best in terms of functionality and bioavailability, which means the body can better absorb and use it.
What to Expect
Although indulging in a bottle of ANTIEVERYTHING is not likely to turn back the clock (and may even cause quite the hangover), Skodda Jones claims that her intention was to create a vodka that could alleviate the guilt associated with a night out on the town. ANTIEVERYTHING contains 16% alcohol by volume (32 proof) and is expected to be marketed in five-star hotels across Berlin, London, Cannes, and Monte Carlo. Although the brand has yet to launch officially, it will do so on June 29, 2016.
A New Fad?
This is the first alcoholic beverage designed with anti-aging in mind, and whether it becomes a fad depends on how it is received after launch. It is expected to be available in the US sometime this summer. Although even the creator notes that it will not reverse aging, its ingredients are designed to help prevent and protect against future damage. Nonetheless, scientists still believe that the dehydration caused by alcohol may offset any health benefits ANTIEVERYTHING has to offer.
Although it may sound far-fetched, ANTIEVERYTHING, the world’s first anti-aging vodka, is already being met with anticipation and excitement. Whether it will fly off store shelves still remains to be seen, but many people feel that a vodka with health benefits is undoubtedly a step in the right direction.
