What Is TrapTox?

The trapezius muscle is broad, thin, and close to the skin’s surface, stretching across the upper back and up into the neck. It supports posture and mobility. Overstretching or straining this critical muscle can cause stiffness and discomfort that radiates up to the head and may even restrict movement. Additionally, when the trap muscle is chronically tense, it can lead to bulky contours that many patients find aesthetically displeasing. TrapTox can streamline the shoulders and neck – hence its nickname, Barbie Tox – while also increasing comfort, range of motion, and overall quality of life.

How Does BOTOX Work?

BOTOX, made with purified Botulinum toxin A, is a neuromodulator that works by temporarily halting muscle action in the targeted regions. It blocks nerve signals sent to the brain that tell certain muscles to contract. What Is The Treatment Process Like?

With BOTOX injections, there is little to no discomfort, and the treatment takes just minutes to complete. A topical anesthetic is available but is not usually needed. Your provider will identify the areas in your back and neck where the trapezius muscle has been overused and administer your injections strategically, being careful to preserve healthy function in the area. This will relieve pain and tension while simultaneously ensuring a slimmer, more shapely upper body profile.

What To Expect After TrapTox

Just like with BOTOX for the forehead, TrapTox patients can immediately resume their normal schedules after their sessions. However, there are a few post-treatment guidelines to follow. Patients should avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol consumption for around 24 hours. While swelling, soreness, and bruising at the injection sites may occur for a few days, these side effects can be well managed with over-the-counter painkillers and ice packs.
