A Trusted Skin Repairing Treatment

Microneedling is a perfectly safe method that tightens and smooths skin, as well as improves skin texture and tone. At The Spiegel Center, we often recommend this procedure to treat acne scars, surgical scars, traumatic injuries, fine lines and wrinkles, and sun-damaged skin, among other concerns. Microneedling stimulates the skin into renewing itself, replacing damaged cells with newer, healthier ones.

What’s The Process Like?

Unlike most practices, at The Spiegel Center, we apply a topical numbing cream prior to the procedure in order to keep the treatment comfortable. (Some patients have been known to fall asleep when they get microneedling done. “It’s like a massage,” they say.)

Next, we cleanse the skin and apply a pure hyaluronic acid (HA) serum. The HA serum acts as a lubricant so the microneedling device can glide smoothly across the skin, but more importantly, the hyaluronic acid penetrates the skin through the channels created, thus boosting your skin’s health.

Various Uses For Hyaluronic Acid

The hyaluronic acid that is found in dermal fillers is the exact same substance that penetrates the skin through the many microscopic channels created by microneedling. Essentially, we’re creating micro-injuries that induce the skin into going into repair mode, producing new collagen and elastin. The result is younger, glowing, and supple skin.

Is Microneedling For Me?

Surgical solutions are wonderful for shaping and contouring the face and removing excess skin, but they cannot change the skin’s quality. Healthy, hydrated skin is the hallmark of youth. Some typical reasons patients undergo microneedling are to correct issues such as the following:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretchmarks
  • Acne scars
  • Rough skin
  • Large pores
  • Surgical scars

What Is The Recovery Process Like?

Microneedling is done in-office and requires no downtime. Most people can resume normal activity right after their treatment. There may be some soreness and tenderness with slight redness and mild bruising, but this typically wears off in a few days.

Skin protection is vital after a microneedling treatment, and patients are advised to avoid direct sunlight, using strong sunscreen and protection like full-coverage hats for the next week or so following treatment.
