Rejuvenate Your Face Without A Facelift

Do people tell you that you look tired or upset when you feel perfectly fine? When you look in the mirror, do you find that your upper eyelids sag and that horizontal lines on your forehead are getting out of hand? Your first thought may be to undergo a facelift for a rejuvenated appearance. But, what you may need is a brow lift at The Spiegel Center in Newton, Massachusetts.

Brow Lift Overview

The Power Of A Brow Lift

The brow lift is a favorite procedure of The Spiegel Center because it offers a short recovery time and a transformative effect on the face. With a simple brow lift, Spiegel Center surgeons can correct a drooping brow, smooth out horizontal forehead lines, and even make your eyes look bigger, brighter, and better.

There are multiple ways to do a brow lift. One type, called pretrichial, involves an incision placed immediately in front of the hairline. This allows us to advance or reshape the hairline, if that is also desired.  A coronal brow lift is done on top of the head and is also a powerful way to adjust the forehead without advancing the hairline.

A temporal browlift can be done with two smaller incisions on the sides of the head, if the sides of the eyebrows are of concern. For some, a direct brow lift can be done through a deep forehead wrinkle.  Finally, the minimally invasive endoscopic brow lift requires only two to four small incisions hidden in your hair.  In all cases, the doctor will make any scars very hard to see so that you get a great result.

Ideal Candidates For A Brow Lift

A consultation is the first step in determining if a brow lift could help you achieve a younger, brighter face. For some patients, a brow lift is a perfect fit, while others require both a brow lift and some other rejuvenation, such as injectables or energy treatments, to address the skin quality.  Typical patients that seek this procedure have:

  • Brows that droop or sag,
  • Pronounced forehead wrinkles or frown lines
  • Want the sexy “fox eyes” shape to their brows
  • Have droopy eyelids due to low eyebrows

Differences Between Brow Lift And Eyelid Lift

Both a brow lift and an eyelid lift are for facial rejuvenation, but this is where the similarities end. A brow lift involves reshaping the forehead from above and is used to elevate drooping eyebrows and remove deep “worry” lines that run across the forehead. An eyelid lift, or blepharoplasty, removes excess skin and fat from the eyelid, making them less droopy, saggy, and puffy.

An eyelid lift is recommended for those who want to address sagging, heavy eyelids. A brow lift is recommended for patients with flattened or sagging eyebrows. If the drooping of the eyelid goes away when your brows are raised, then a brow lift may be the only procedure you’ll need. In some cases, a combination of both procedures may be the right choice.

How Is A Brow Lift Performed?

Before the procedure, we will take photographs and thoroughly examine your face and discuss your medical history. The brow lift surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure and may be done under local anesthesia, although we can also use general anesthesia if that is your preference.

Our surgeons perform all types of brow lifts, including endoscopic brow lifts, which only require two or so small incisions. An endoscope, or small tube with a camera and light attached, is used to guide the surgeon as they carefully lift target muscles and tissues and secure them in place. The final step is the closing of the incisions.

Recovery From A Brow Lift

Patients typically experience some temporary forehead numbness after the procedure. Pain medication can control any minimal discomfort around the incision, though this is usually not an issue cold compresses help reduce swelling that may occur in the days that follow. The few hidden stitches or clips are typically removed after a week. Most patients are back on their feet in a day or two and back to their usual routine within a week.

Results That Impress

The aim of an eyebrow lift is to enhance your natural beauty and make you look better without making you look different. People will notice how much better you look, and the new, younger-looking brow will help lift your entire face and give you a youthful and relaxed appearance.

What Will The Procedure Cost?

The cost for a brow lift is determined by a number of factors, including the scope of correction needed, the techniques required to perform a customized surgery, anesthesia fees, and the techniques utilized.  Your coordinator at The Spiegel Center will get you all of the details and discuss options so you can achieve your dream.
