With time many positive things happen. We (hopefully) gain experience, learn from our mistakes, become more tolerant, and gain wisdom. However, there are some less desirable aspects of aging, and wrinkles are clearly in that category. Forehead wrinkles are just a part of life but luckily there have been many breakthroughs that will help to reduce or even get rid of those pesky wrinkles entirely. You may have heard of some of the options and they include cosmetic plastic surgery, the right skin care regimen, facial relaxing medications, and facial yoga or exercising. Some work quickly, some slowly, and some don’t work at all! Let’s review 4 non-surgical ways to reduce forehead wrinkles.
1. The right skincare: Face lotions and creams!
Keeping your face moisturized is one of the best ways to prevent and minimize forehead wrinkles especially if you live in a climate that tends to dry out the skin, or is prone to dry skin. Skincare has come a long way. The first step in the regimen is to clear off unhealthy chemicals, oils, and deposits that end up on the face after a day of work, commuting, exercise, and cooking. A good skin cleaner will degrease and remove these contaminants without overly drying the skin. The next step will be to hydrate the skin. A hydrator is not the same as a moisturizer as a hydrator gets replenishing acids and fats into the skin while a moisturizer works as a barrier to keep skin moisture in. Clearly, a hydrator comes before the moisturizer! There are also peptide and serum preparations that stimulate new collagen growth, and the final step is always a good mineral sunscreen. 2. Botox Injections:
Everyone’s favorite, Botox! If your forehead wrinkles are very deep, skin lotions might not be enough to eliminate them completely. Botulinum preparations such as Botox, Dysport, Juveau, Daxify, and Xeomin specifically target certain chemicals in the muscles to minimize their function and soften wrinkles by not allowing you to move parts of the forehead muscles as strongly. This process is very quick and almost painless allowing you to see positive results rapidly. When done correctly you’ll still be able to express all of your emotions, but won’t seem as angry or old.
3. Facial Yoga or exercise:
Pull in your eyebrows as far as they can go hold for a second and push back as far as possible. Repeat this step and over time you could reduce your forehead wrinkles quite a bit according to proponents of facial yoga. This process is called facial exercising but, the problem is, it makes wrinkles worse. Strong muscles are what are creating the wrinkles on your forehead. Botulinum (Botox) works by weakening these muscles and allowing the overlying skin to drape more smoothly. Yoga is great, and exercise is critical for your body. But, not for your face. Skip this one!
4. Skin Quality improvement:
Thin fabrics wrinkle more than thicker and heavier fabrics, and the same goes for your skin. With age, the skin thins as collagen gets broken down and the elasticity of the skin lessens. Fortunately, there are ways to improve your skin quality.
