Throughout history, beauty has been revered, worshiped and sought endlessly. Beauty has been painted, written about and captured on photographs more than anything else in this world. Though beauty may lie in the eye of beholder, people constantly strive to obtain it through any means available. Today, many tools are available to facilitate this quest – from skin care products to facial plastic surgery; changing appearance has become easier than ever.
Forehead Lift
Sometimes done in conjunction with other facial plastic surgeries such as a facelift or an eyelid surgery, the forehead lift is a popular surgery that is frequently performed on older women. As the name implies, the main goal of the forehead lift is to reduce the appearance of deep creases across the forehead. This surgery also aims at reversing any eyebrow change that naturally occurs with aging. A forehead lift that is well performed always leaves the eyebrow and forehead areas looking more youthful and refreshed than ever. Though the facelift surgery is a generally safe procedure, swelling and non-permanent hair loss may happen after the surgery. The average price of a forehead lift is about $8,000.
Eyelid Surgery
A blepharoplasty, or more commonly known as an eyelid surgery, is a type of facial plastic surgery that aims at repairing droopy or sagging eyelids. This surgery is also known to reduce the appearance of puffy eyes. By removing any excess or loose skin that occurs in the folds of the upper or lower eyelids, surgeons manage to completely get rid of the imperfections that arise with old age. Blepharoplasty usually costs around $4,000 and is performed under IV sedation. This surgery usually lasts about one to two hours. While mild swelling for a few weeks after the surgery is quite frequent and normal, blepharoplasty is usually considered to be a rather safe surgery when performed by the right surgeon.
Cheek Augmentation
This type of facial plastic surgery involves restoring the fullness of the cheeks in order to reverse the effects of the aging process. When weak cheeks start giving someone a gaunt and aged appearance, they should consider a cheek augmentation. By improving sunken cheeks, this surgery helps define the facial contours of the visage and gives the person a younger look. Much like breast augmentation, cheek augmentation involves placing implants in the cheeks. The average price of this surgery is about $3,000 but varies greatly in every area. Some of the complications that could arise from a cheek augmentation include infection, scarring and bleeding. Recovery usually takes only a couple of days.
Facial plastic surgeries can be extremely beneficial to people with low self-esteem or image problems. By giving them the youthful look they so desire or ridding them of any imperfection that troubles them, surgeries are able to empower people and make them feel more confident and comfortable with their body than ever before. While beauty might only be skin deep for some people, at the end of the day, it is clear that beauty does bring happiness to many people.
